FRUIT PEELS

Level 1
Fruity Spa Water
Yields ½ gallon

- a Marlene Samuels creation -

Thirst-quenching and never boring, this hydrating drink is a nice way to get some extra Vitamin C into your diet, without artificial flavorings or chemicals. Citrus acid also makes this drink last longer in the fridge – about 4 days - because acid is a natural preservative. Need more reasons to drink Fruity Spa Water?

  • You'll start resisting drinks that are alot less healthy
  • It cleanses your system and well,
  • Making drinks out of peels is plain economical!

½ cup fruit peels (apple, citrus peels such as grapefruit, lemon* or orange)
½ gallon water

  1. Scrub exterior of fruit under clean running water thoroughly to remove any residue.
  2. For citrus fruits, peel in long thin strips with a vegetable peeler in one continuous strip. Take care to leave white pith attached to fruit, using only topmost layer of peel. Store peeled fruit in a plastic bag for later use to avoid it drying out.
  3. Fill container with fresh water, leaving 3” from the top. Add peels. Replace cap and screw on tightly. Shake vigorously several times to release flavor.
  4. Store in fridge for approximately one hour before serving. Use within two or three days.

 * Lemon peels produce the strongest citrus flavor
